Broker War Stories

Tuesday, September 8, 2026 | 11:00 AM | Scott's Seafood, Jack London Square

Join us for a candid, no-holds-barred conversation with brokers who've been in the trenches — real deals, real obstacles, and the creative strategies it took to get them across the finish line. From financing hurdles to last-minute escrow drama, our panelists will share the stories (and lessons) that don't usually make it into the case studies.

Moderator:

Steve Peterson, CCIM is President-Elect of the Northern California CCIM Chapter and Broker/Owner of Infinity Investments. A CCIM Designee since 2018, Steve has been an active chapter leader for years, helping shape its luncheon programming and mentoring the next generation of CRE professionals throughout Northern California.

Panelists:

Brandy Buttram is Vice President of Debt & Equity at Northmarq's San Francisco office, where she arranges financing solutions for commercial real estate clients throughout Northern California and Sacramento. Before joining Northmarq in 2022, she built her expertise in institutional balance sheet lending at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Wells Fargo. Brandy serves on the NAIOP San Francisco Bay Area Board of Directors and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of CRE professionals.

Dominic Sestito is a Senior Associate on the Debt & Equity team at SRS Real Estate Partners' San Francisco office, supporting the origination and closing of financing across a range of commercial asset types. Before joining SRS, Dominic spent several years as a Commercial Mortgage Banker at Slatt Capital, closing loans across retail, industrial, mixed-use, and multifamily properties throughout Northern California.

Andres Lopez is a Senior Director of Investments at Marcus & Millichap, part of the Levin Johnston Group, where he has spent over 13 years helping commercial real estate investors protect, reposition, and grow their wealth. Since 2013, Andres has facilitated more than $300 million in transactions across multifamily, net-leased, industrial, and land development properties throughout the Bay Area and nationwide, with a focus on 1031 exchanges and long-term wealth strategy.

Tim Vi Tran, SIOR, CCIM is Founder and CEO of The Ivy Group, bringing more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience advising corporations, municipalities, and investors on disposition, acquisition, and leasing strategy. A former Naval officer and engineer, Tim redirected his career to CRE in 1999 and is one of the few Bay Area brokers holding both SIOR and CCIM designations. He served as President of the Northern California CCIM Chapter in 2022.
